WITCHES NIGHT OUT IN NEWBURYPORT
On Friday, October 17th, witches and warlocks travel from near and far for an evening of shopping, dining, seasonal deals, and of course, treats.
Over the years, this free Halloween-inspired event has turned into a Fall tradition for many. It makes for a magical evening out with friends, a spellbinding date night, or the perfect ‘witches (aka girls) night’ out!
Although a costume is not required, it does add to the evening’s vibe, and allows you to blend in with the revellers.
This Halloween evening is sponsored by the Newburyport Chamber of Commerce, promoting an enchanted evening of commerce and community for all to enjoy.
A Few Highlights
Port Vida a Mexican Cantina located at 10 Center Street in Newburyport, will be brewing up specialty cocktails for the season at their truly haunted (so the legend has it) location.
Simply Sweet, located on Inn Street in Newburyport, will be welcoming back the sounds of Soundbridge Union, ‘a powerhouse music duo, performing reimagined versions of popular songs’ and offering some of the signature treats they are known for.
Merchants will be staying open later for the evening festivities and will be offering bites and beverages. There are also decorative window displays and special pop-ups like The Hormonal Hangover Society at Jabberwocky Bookstore in the Tannery Marketplace.

When – Friday, October 17, 2025 from 6-9 PM
Where – Throughout Downtown Newburyport and The Tannery Marketplace
What to Wear – Grab your broom, pointy hat, and cape if you have one! The witches and warlocks will be walking the streets, and you’ll want to wear your best mystical attire to fit right in! Wear something comfortable on your feet, you will be doing a lot of walking if you don’t bring your broom.
Parking – Paid parking is in effect from 8 AM to 8 PM – use kiosks located in the lot or the ParkMobile app to pay. Please note there is no overnight parking.
- Green Street Lot – 2 Unicorn Street
- Waterfront Trust Lot – Off of Merrimac Street – perfect for walking along the water and accessing downtown.
- State Street Lot – 98 State Street – this is a smaller, centrally located lot
- Newburyport Intermodal Garage – 1 Titcomb Street – covered garage that offers mobile payments.
