Crescent Park, located along the Narragansett Bay in Riverside, a city in East Providence, Rhode Island offers much more than just a beautiful waterfront view. Recent Improvements & Revitalization

From cosmetic additions to sturdy infostructure, there have been multiple steps taken by the city of East Providence to further improve this park for the benefit of locals. In recent years, there have been repairs made to the seawall separating the park from the beach as well as efforts to enhance the “living shoreline” with fresh vegetation, new sand and native plantings. Most notably, the Crescent Park Beachfront Wall Mural is 200 feet in length with a 10 feet high height facing the open Bay. This hidden gem was recently painted in 2024, capturing numerous elements that share the story of the history, culture and bright future of this area.  

Activities for All Ages

During the warmer months, Crescent Park is the host of diverse events bringing the community together. Every year, this area is “the spot” for the students of East Providence High School to take their memorable prom pictures. It also offers a summer concert series called “Concerts in the Park” from June to August on Thursday evenings. Not only do residents benefit, but vendors are welcome to reserve a spot to sell their unique creations at annual events like the Rhode Island Folk Festival and the Looff Arts Festival. Part of the appeal for townspeople is the family friendly environment. By the Looff Carousel there are car shows every Saturday evening from May to September, bringing young and old together for yet another free community event referred to as “Cruise Nights”. Families can also enjoy the “Movies in the Park” outdoor movie screening events open to all, occurring at dusk typically once a month over the summer season. Moving right into the beautiful New England fall season, children can enjoy the annual “Trunk or Treat” Halloween-themed family event held on the grounds of the Crescent Park Carousel.
